Poppies
Poppies are among Sammoun's very special memories. It reminds him of his childhood in Joun, Lebanon, where poppies will cover the fields in April. This series is known for the textured flowers, with a thick layer of paint, to give movement and life to the delicate poppy. The swirled background recalls the clouds, the sun, and the movement of the sky. Sammoun aims to really capture the delicateness of this magic wild flower. Many of the poppy fields are from his hometown in Lebanon as well as from Tuscany, Italy, where he often goes during spring time.
